this second circular is to announce the opening of the registration to the international school on "Cosmic Accelerators" to be held from April 29th to May 8th 2013, in Cargèse, Corse, France, see http://www.issibern.ch/cargese2013.
The registration to the school is now open, and will be closed on December 20 2012. If you are interested to participate, please register at
At the same time, due to the limited number of places, and, in order to balance the participants’ profiles (PHDs, post-‐docs, research fields, etc.), we ask the participants to provide their short CV (including the names of two reference persons). Note however, that priority will also be given on the basis of the registration date. Selected participants will be informed early January 2013.
In the registration form participants will also be able to indicate if they are interested in giving a short presentation or in presenting a poster. In this case they shall provide a title and an abstract.
The provisional fee for the school is 600 Euro, which includes 10 days of housing at the school, or nearby to it in the village, lunches, social dinner, and a social excursion. Please note that only shared double rooms are available for the given fee; limited single rooms are available but at a higher price. The payment of the fee will be done at arrival to the school in cash only.
Some financial support may be available in the form of a reduction of the fee for participants with limited support from their institution. In case you want to apply for financial support, please mention it in the registration form.
The school may be labelled as an “Ecole thématiqhue du CNRS” (pending demand). In case the CNRS support is awarded, applicants from the CNRS will be exempted from the registration fee.
The goal of the school is to gather the experts of the different astrophysical objects/scenarios, linked by the fact that they work on physical models explaining the high-‐energy radiation from relativistic sources. They will illustrate their different approaches to such a common problem, and will stimulate the young scientists to provide the link that is currently under-‐exploited among the different communities.
The school will be organised in lectures that will last at maximum two hours in a row, with some sessions split into separate lectures on several days, if needed. Each session will be self-‐contained, and there will be room for questions and discussions after each lecture. Some time will be available for short (15 min) presentations given by the school participants, and a poster session will be foreseen.
The school will take place at the Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse (http://www.iesc.univ-corse.fr) on the coast of Corsica, France. It will begin on Monday 29th at 14:00, and the registration and payment will open at 12:30. Two buses from the Ajaccio airport and port will be scheduled on Monday morning, in order to collect and bring the participants to Cargèse. The Ajaccio airport is served from Paris Orly, Paris CDG, Nice and Marseille. It is highly recommended to tune your travel schedule on the two buses, due to the paucity of public transportation in Corsica. If you don't want to take the school bus, note that a taxi can be an expensive (> 100 Euro) alternative.
