Proposal

Although European scientists have made outstanding contributions to Lunar science, both in exploration and in understanding of the science of the Moon, it remains an area where our reputation and visibility lags behind others. In the last few years, excellent European instruments have flown on a number of missions to the Moon. Yet the data has been woefully underexploited. To date, Europe has launched one mission to the Moon (SMART-1), led (and funded) provision of three instruments on-board the Indian Chandrayaan-1 mission, and has also played a key role in the JAXA SELENE mission. Leaders of all these involvements are included in our consortium.
