New observations directly in support of the ISSI team

CRIRES image

VLT CRIRES observations of Jupiter's auroral region - Oct and Dec 2012

Two half nights of observations scanning through the auroral region of Jupiter, using AO correction from off-axis moons where possible. This data will provide both velocity and temperature measurements

SPEX image

IRTF SpeX pole-to-pole observations of Jupiter's ionosphere - Dec 2012

A sequence of four nights of observations, observing the rotational axis of the planet, in order to map both the auroral and non-auroral ionospheric emission. These observations were badly effected by weather, but one full night was recorded, and will produce intensity, temperature and density measurements across the disk of Jupiter.

CSHELL image

IRTF CSHELL scans in support of the EXCEED mission - Jan 2014

A two week campaign to observe Jupiter's auroral intensity and wind structure simultaneously to EXCEED and the wide programme of other Io and Jupiter ground based and HST observations. Significantly affected by poor weather.

CSHELL image

IRTF CSHELL scans in support of the EXCEED mission - Feb-Apr 2014

An extended set of observations that observe Jupiter's auroral intensity and wind structure simultaneously to EXCEED over a long time period, in order to measure long-term trends, with observations planned over an unprecidented three month period.

Past observations re-assessed by the ISSI team members

NSFCam image

IRTF NSFCam images of Jupiter's aurora by Connerney et al. 1995-2000

A sequence of many observations of the aurora from 1995-2000, recently re-reduced, projected and archived by B. Bonfond and M. Lystrup.

NSFCam image

Cassini Jupiter fly-by observations Dec 2000 - Jan 2001

Low spectral and spatial resolution data cubes of Jupiter that never-the-less reveal the night-side of Jupiter's infrared emission in greater detail than has ever previously been managed.
