of Vertical Filtering and Error Propagation
in the Data Processing Algorithms of the NDACC Lidars
Hosted by: the
International Space Science Institute,
First
Meeting: 29 November-
The first meeting will consist of a review and
critical assessment of the methodologies used in the NDACC lidar analysis
algorithms (specifically, the filtering schemes, and the definition, quantification,
and propagation of uncertainties), followed by discussions on the required
actions to standardize them. Presentations and discussions shall focus on:
- Reviewing theoretical considerations
pertaining to signal filtering and error propagation
- Assessing in details how the above topics are treated in each participant’s
analysis software
- Reviewing methodologies and approaches used by other communities (e.g.,
EARLINET)
- Defining approaches and strategies to guarantee that the
- Developing tools and docs to guarantee that the agreed approaches are
implemented
- Defining recommendations, guidelines, and action items based on the first
meeting’s outcome

Meeting Program and Format
Two projectors should be available for display
purposes. Please bring your presentations on a memory stick and upload them to
computer 2 prior to your session. Someone will be available to assist you with
this during breaks and just before each session. A large amount of time will be
dedicated to discussions. Therefore, interrupting the speakers during their
presentation is NOT recommended. Please wait for the end of the talks to ask
questions.
All
abovementioned times and durations are approximate, and listed as a guideline
only. Times will likely slide backward or forward based on the number and
length of the presentations and related discussions in the various sessions.
