Schedule & Meetings

A Steering Committee (SC) that includes the 2 PIs (M. Arnaud – CEA Saclay France; S. Ettori -INAF OAS Bologna Italy) and 10 other co-Is is in charge to promote and coordinate the activities related to the XMM Heritage Project. To operate efficiently, the SC has also appointed several Working Groups (e.g. on X-ray data analysis, lensing, SZ, hydro simulations) that will focus on specific issues.

Examples of ongoing activities are

  • X-ray data reduction and analysis of the archived observations (available for about 30 objects)
  • preparation, reduction and analysis of the new XMM exposures that will be taken starting in Spring 2018
  • extraction and analysis of the Planck multi-frequency maps, and reconstruction of the SZ pressure profile
  • collection of published results and preparation of proposals in other wavelengths (e.g. radio, optical imaging & spectroscopy)
  • comparison with outputs from state-of-the-art cosmological simulations
  • maintaining the connection and involvement of the collaboration at large, with more than 60 researchers involved around the world
  • writing of several papers based on the results obtained in the above-mentioned activities, and that will be published in peer-reviewed journals (like e.g. A&A, MNRAS).

Most of these activities will be defined, promoted and revised through teleconferences. We have also envisaged the organization of face-to-face meetings among the SC’s members to (i) report on the progress of the listed activities. (ii) discuss about the status of the defined actions, (iii) revise critically the roadmaps to address all the open issues. This proposal aims at providing a solid logistic solution to these face-to-face meetings.
