This circular is based on the second circular and contains only important items that have been updated in the meantime. Its main purpose is to serve as a last reminder.

3. Workshop date and place

The one-week workshop will be held from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, 16 March 2004 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 20 March 2004 at the International Space Science Institute, Hallerstrasse 6, in Bern, Switzerland.

Since this will be the best-attended workshop ever held at ISSI we have reserved the main auditorium at the neighbouring World Trade Institute (WTI) for the two plenary days (Tuesday and Saturday). The WTI is located just one floor beneath ISSI, and the room is fully equipped and conveniently seats the 60 or more of us. All other sessions will be held at ISSI, including the brief plenary sessions in the morning of Wed-Fri, which will be held in an informal manner in the coffee area.

4. Structure of the workshop

4.1 Introductory talks

The duration of these talks is 30 minutes plus some 10 minutes for discussion. All introductory talks should lead to a paper in the workshop publication (see below). Drafts of these introductory papers should be available at the workshop.

Please be aware of the following two points:

Since it may be unrealistic for some of us to bring complete drafts it is suggested that we at least bring detailed outlines of chapter content along with lists of figures.  I believe this would be most valuable in delineating boundaries between chapters.

Second, regarding our presentations, because their primary purpose should be to convey what will be in the chapter, we should resist the urge to tell about our own latest findings.  There will be room for those in the working group chapters.

5. Workshop programme

Please see here for the workshop program.

7. Funding of the workshop

ISSI will fund the participants by providing the daily subsistence cost for the time of the meeting (time of arrival in through departure from Bern).

Hotel costs (room and breakfast) will be paid by ISSI to the hotels directly, except for any extras charged to the room; these charges the participants should pay themselves upon departure.

The daily allowances of 35 CHF per meal will be reimbursed by bank transfer after the workshop based on a form that all participants will be requested to fill in while at ISSI. Please bring your banking information with you, including the SWIFT code if possible.

8. Equipment available at ISSI

As promised in the second circular we have just completed wireless network access on both floors of the institute (802.11b and 802.11a modes). Wired access of course remains possible.

Please contact our computer engineer and system administrator, Saliba Saliba (saliba@issi.unibe.ch), with any computer-related questions.

9. Social programme

There will be an excursion in the afternoon of Thu 18 March to some nice but yet to be selected place.

The workshop dinner on Friday, 19 March, at 7 pm will be held in the “Empire-Saal” of the “Restaurant zum äusseren Stand”.

11. Hotel reservations

Registration information is urgently needed of those participants who have not provided it already. If so, please contact Brigitte Fasler (Tel. +41-31-631-4896, Fax: +41-31-631-4897, email: fasler@issi.unibe.ch) right away.
