Workshop Topic

The purpose of the workshop "Cosmic Rays and Earth" is to review the detection of cosmic rays
near the surface and in the lower atmosphere of Earth, including the effect that this radiation has
on the terrestrial environment. The focus will be on the role of neutron monitors (invented by
Professor John Simpson in 1948) in the investigation of this radiation, on the science enabled by
the unique neutron monitor dataset, and on continuing opportunities to use these data to solve
outstanding problems.
