2025 | Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics An Extraordinary Dayside Negative Ionospheric Storm of 11 May 2024 and Total Electron Content (TEC) Vortices
On 10–11 May 2024, a major geomagnetic storm occurred on Earth. It significantly affected the dynamics of the Earth’s atmosphere and ionosphere. Here we report the occurrence of a severe dayside negative ionospheric storm in the American/Atlantic region during the recovery phase of the 10–11 May 2024 superstorm. The dayside total electron content (TEC) dropped by −90.05 TECU below the quiet‐time values, which represents extreme storm‐time deviations of ∼82%.

Information on the evolution of latitudinal profiles of the solar wind speed and density is one of the important elements needed to understand global observations of heliospheric neutral and charged particle populations performed by NASA’s integrated heliospheric observatory Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP). This information is provided by the GLObal solar Wind Structure (GLOWS) experiment.

2025 | Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics Theory and Modeling of Large Scale Plasmapause Surface Waves
The plasmapause in Earth’s magnetosphere represents the boundary between the plasma which co‐rotates with the Earth (plasmasphere), and the more tenuous plasmatrough outside. The density change across the plasmapause can be large, changing by approximately 1–2 orders of magnitude depending on the prevailing conditions.

2025 | The Astrophysical Journal Driven Phase-mixed Alfvén Waves in a Partially Ionized Solar Plasma
Phase mixing has long been understood to be a viable mechanism for expediting the dissipation of Alfvén wave energy resulting in the subsequent heating of the solar atmosphere. To fulfill the conditions necessary for phase mixing to occur, we consider the cross-field gradient in the Alfvén speed as a free parameter in our model.

Comparisons between observed and model‐resolved gravity waves (GWs) are crucial for evaluating general circulation model (GCM) simulation accuracy and understanding wave characteristics. However, observational noise often obscures waves, complicating such comparisons. To address this, we have developed a GW detection method using a convolutional neural network (CNN).

Global temperatures in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere are poorly constrained. Other than an in situ measurement by the Galileo Probe, all temperature data come from remote-sensing methods that primarily rely on emissions from H 3+ , the dominant molecular ion in giant planet ionospheres.

2025 | Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Galaxy Zoo JWST: up to 75 per cent of discs are featureless at 3 < z < 7
We have not yet observed the epoch at which disc galaxies emerge in the Universe. While high-z measurements of large-scale features such as bars and spiral arms trace the evolution of disc galaxies, such methods cannot directly quantify featureless discs in the early Universe.
