Meetings

The first meeting of our ISSI team has taken place in Bern on 6-10 May 2019. During this meeting, we have investigated the transmission of foreshock waves into the magnetosheath. Numerical simulations with the Vlasiator code seem to suggest that waves may transmit more easily in some part of the magnetosheath. We looked for events with a suitable spacecraft configuration to confirm this scenario. We also investigated how the foreshock wave signatures inside the magnetosphere are modified during a magnetic cloud event, compared to normal solar wind conditions.

Our second meeting, scheduled on 9-13 March 2020, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team’s activities are however continuing through regular online meetings and we have several studies in preparation.
