Working Group on "Collisionless Shocks in the Heliosphere"

Purpose:

The WG has been organised following a suggestion by the Directorate of ISSI and led by A. Balogh, in order to collect the currently available knowledge about the physics of nonrelativistic collisionless shocks, in particular in view of their presence, properties and importance in the heliosphere. It will be the purpose of the WG to come up with a contemporary review of this knowledge. This review is intended to be published as a separate volume under the heading of ISSI. It has not yet been decided in which form or with which publisher this volume will be published. The WG will meet two times: once for constitution, a second time for editorial purposes after completion of the manuscript.
