<\/a><\/p>\nThis Workshop aims at describing the characteristics\u00a0of the different magnetic field sources with the goal\u00a0to isolate them properly in magnetic field observations\u00a0and to discuss suitable approaches for source\u00a0characterisation.<\/p>\n
It will bring together experts on the Earth interior\u00a0and on ionospheric and magnetospheric electric currents,\u00a0including observations and modelling, to\u00a0tackle these questions properly. The resulting book\u00a0will summarize the outcome including research on\u00a0problems that benefit from proper source characterisation\u00a0in the magnetic field, such as:<\/p>\n
\u2022 How to define \u201cmagnetic quiet conditions\u201d in\u00a0polar and non-polar regions? Which sources are\u00a0present during magnetically quiet conditions and\u00a0what is their character?<\/p>\n
\u2022 What are recent modelling capabilities for predicting\u00a0magnetic field contributions during magnetically\u00a0inactive conditions?<\/p>\n
\u2022 What is the uncertainty in specifying unwanted\u00a0field contributions for a study of external currents?<\/p>\n
Especially with the advent of multi- satellite missions\u00a0and an increasing number of ground stations, this\u00a0book will largely contribute to a better understanding if the different sources of the Earth magnetic\u00a0field.<\/p>\n
