MEETING SUMMARY

The CARNES team relies partly on the work performed by the WFM ISSI team (Wave Field Measurements to trace Wave-Particle Interactions in the Plasmasphere), while the scientific topics studied by the CARNES team have been extended to other domains. The first meeting has been devoted to review presentation in the following subjects in order to define detailed studies to be performed.  In particular, presentations have been made on:

The successful discussions led to a better reciprocal understanding between participants from different scientific communities and were concluded by a number of actions to be performed before the second team meeting, forecasted at the end of 2009 or beginning of 2010.

Conclusions

The following conclusions, and associated actions, were decided for the next team meeting:

-        TRANSCAR model,

-        Relation models – observations,

-        Kinetics of sprite discharges: F. Vazquez

-        Chemistry

-        Colleague from Japanese community,

-        Coordinator of TARANIS ground-based observations,

-        Young scientists.

·            Further studies of balloon – aircraft observations coordinated with sprite observations:

-        Measurements to be performed by balloons,

-        Careful design of balloons,

-        Possibility of small balloons,

-        IR glow,

-        Important observations.
