WORKSHOP PROGRAMME OUTLINE
The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) performs observations in the ultraviolet spectral domain with six of its twelve instruments. Some of these have a radiometric calibration that is traceable to a primary standard, e.g., the Berlin synchrotron storage ring (BESSY I). Moreover, the in-orbit stability of the radiometric instrument-responses has been carefully monitored and evaluated, and found to be stable to a large extent. This offers an opportunity not only to discuss and agree on the final calibration of the instruments in question, but also to investigate potential solar variations (in irradiance as well as in radiance, contrast, etc.). In the past, the SOHO experimenters have met repeatedly at two-day workshops, in order to assess the radiometric inter-calibration of their instruments. Meetings were held at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)/BESSY in Berlin (1996 and 1999) and at the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale, Orsay (1998). The results hitherto obtained are mature enough to now plan the definitive work on SOHO's radiometric calibration.
The scientific aim of these workshops thus has been the summary of the
radiometric
 (inter-)calibration of SOHO.

The workshop held in February 2001 was followed by a second one in
October 2001 in order to continue and complete the effort.

The outcome of the workshops, to which all instrument groups contributed,
and which documents the calibrations of SOHO's EUV instruments,
is summarised in the book
The Radiometric Calibration of SOHO which
will be published in the
ISSI Scientific Report Series.

EDITORIAL MEETING
30 and 31 January 2002 in Bern
During the editorial meeting (participants: J. Kohl, D. Pike, K. Wilhelm,
M.C.E. Huber, R. v. Steiger, A. Pauluhn),
 the title and
a refined framework for the publication were set. The need for
compliance with international standards
 was emphasized and some
 additional guidelines for the papers
in "The Radiometric Calibration of SOHO" were compiled.
