The International Space Science Institute (ISSI) is an Institute of advanced studies in the space sciences (Astrophysics, Heliophysics, Planetary Sciences and Earth Science), located in Bern, Switzerland. ISSI is looking for a reliable and service-oriented

Secretary (50%)

to join our small and international team from January 1, 2027 on.

Your Responsibilities

As our Secretary, you will take care of a broad range of administrative and organisational tasks. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Welcoming and supporting visitors, guests and international scientists

• Supporting the calculation and processing of guest reimbursements

• Keeping the cafeteria and common areas organised and in good order

• Recording creditor invoices in Abacus

• Supporting hotel reservations and invoice checks, as required

• Providing general administrative support to the team and taking on additional tasks as needed

Your Qualification

• A completed Commercial Apprenticeship (KV EFZ) or equivalent qualification

• Good organisational skills and a structured, detail-oriented way of working

• Experience of using Abacus Business Software is a major asset

• Native German speaker with a very good command of English both spoken and written; a good command of French is an advantage

• Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a small but diverse team

This is a staff position under Swiss law, up to 50% of time effort, negotiable. The salary is commensurate to qualifications and experience. Employment conditions are similar to those of the University of Bern.
