Working Groups (WGs) are set up to enable science by technical means. They are proposed by the community in consultation with the ISSI directorate. Each WG consists of up to 15 researchers, who typically meet for two one-week in-person meetings (a third meeting may be requested in exceptional circumstances).
WGs can, for example, address the development of scientific workflows, models, algorithms, or new scientific approaches. They can also develop new scientific standards or define best practices and techniques. Achieving these goals requires collaboration and consensus among experts from across the community.
The results of the WGs’ activities are typically published as volumes in the ISSI Scientific Report Series (SR) or in the scientific literature. Other forms of dissemination include peer-reviewed articles, monographs, white papers, and open-source tools, repositories or databases.
